I am a Mobile Solution Designer for one of the major Telecommunications company within New Zealand. I was apart of the engineering team that built the XT network within New Zealand. I have created and helped to maintain Gaming Generation a gaming website for all types of gamers (now closed). I have put together various websites in my spare time with open source software for non-profitable organisations. In my spare time I do Arts & Crafts including sewing, painting and any thing I can get my hands into. I'm currently teaching myself how to sew electronics into materials (smart crafting).

In my role at the State Services Commission, I'm an Advisor for Strategy & Policy within ICT. What that means in day-to-day is that I investigate Web 2.0 (whatever that means) trends, and figure out how the government can use new technologies to engage better with the public.
One of my major roles is acting as editor and project manager for the State Service Commission's blog, In Development - http://blog.e.govt.nz .
I'm interested in ways to engage participation, and how to build communities.

I've been online for a long time. Since 1995 if you wanted to deal with numbers. During that time I used mosaic, became addicted to IRC, was one of the first people in NZ to have an online journal, have ridden many trends and am most proud of the community that I've built up around www.wellingtonista.com.
If it's happened online in New Zealand, I've probably had an opinion on it. What makes me stand out is my lack of geekery, and my self-confidence to talk about my experiences as an end-user.

I've been running Katipo Communications for over 10 years. In that time we've ranged in size but are usually 7-10 people. We are a team that works from home developing websites and open source software.
We built Koha - the worlds first Open Source Library System in 1999-2000. Our latest OS project is Kete, a collaborative digital archiving system.

I spent a couple of decades as a teacher and trainer, working with both individuals and groups. Although I no longer usually provide training I am still available to speak about web topics.
In 2006, with Maria Langer I wrote WordPress 2 Visual QuickStart Guide. I am also the author of an ongoing series of WordPress articles for Informit.

I am one of NZ’s leading agile advocates, am a Certified SCRUM Master and a Certified SCRUM Practitioner and have a passion for using agile to bring true business value to companies.
One of my major agile initiatives was working on Sony Ericsson’s global enterprise website, which was a distributed agile programme of work (Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Mumbai) where I was responsible for defining, managing and, in part, implementing requirements.
